Happy New Year!

The twelfth night seemed to be a good date to send out the first of our 2024 journals….

Let me start by saying that I hope you have all enjoyed the festive holidays. Underneath the tree for me this year was a book called ‘At Home in the Cotswolds: Secrets of English Country House Style’ by Katy Campbell and Mark Nicholson. Someone knows me very well! Actually readers – that is a total lie! I bought it myself, for me, wrapped it and wrote a label from the dogs with love! It’s not that I don’t get gorgeous gifts from my lovely family but I really, really wanted this book and from past experience I know that I would either have mentioned to everyone that I wanted it and then ended up with several copies, or I would have kept schtum and hoped for the best and not got a copy at all…

The thing is, as anyone who is into property will testify, we are a terribly nosy bunch when it comes to looking around other people’s homes and ‘At Home in The Cotswolds’ is a peak inside some beautiful private homes in this picturesque part of the UK in which I am lucky enough to live. From a quintessential Cotswold stone cottage through to an historic stately home, it covers a range of beautiful and very photogenic houses in stunning settings. I was hoping for some inspiration and I was not disappointed (thank you doggos 😉). You might think that I would want a break from looking at houses over the holiday period but, as Mark Twain (or was it Confucius?) famously said, ‘Find a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.’ I got lucky again and I am so looking forward to 2024 with Castellum!

Heading into the new year we have a great deal to be excited about. We have three new staff arriving this month, one in Surrey and two in the Cotswolds. With inflation flattening out somewhat we are hoping for more certainty returning to the construction industry and we have a busy start to 2024 with new projects starting across all offices and a fit out phase added on to an existing shell and core on the Wentworth Estate, not to mention our Retrofit in Central London for the Grosvenor Estate.
